Move over Adelaide and Melbourne – come to the cabaret in Sydney, 2012!

It was officially announced today that Sydney’s most famous cabaret venue, SLIDE, will produce it’s first first annual Cabaret Festival from Monday 6 February – Saturday March 3, 2012.  Featuring over 23 artists from the USA, France and Australia (including interstate artists from Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth), the inaugural Cabaret Festival is produced and curated by Catherine Alcorn (Marketing Manger/Producer) and Marc Kuzma (Creative Director).

Sydney will sizzle with a seasonally diverse selection of theatre, musical theatre and cabaret shows perfectly suited to align with Mardi Gras 2012. Artists performing at the Festival include Phil Scott (Priscilla, Wharf Revue), Michael Griffiths (Jersey Boys, Adelaide Cabaret Festival), Marney McQueen (Hairspray, Rosa Wax), El Circo, David Raleigh (NYC), Toby Francis (2010 Cabaret Showcase Winner), Catherine Alcorn (The Divine Miss Bette, Monday Night Live) and Marika Aubrey (Redhead – pictured) to name a few.

Opening Night festivities will take place on Monday 6 February, where patrons will be invited to walk the red carpet and soak up the atmosphere of what is sure to become a mainstay on the Sydney events calendar. Limited public tickets will be available for $30 for the opening night (which includes a glass of sparkling wine on arrival).

Throughout the 4 week season, Cabaret Festival goers will have the choice between enjoying a two course fine dining and show experience from $70.00, or show only viewing from $25.00 whilst sipping on cocktails in the mezzanine, all the while absorbing the vaudevillian vibe and sophistication of Slide.

The festival will round off with an open door Mardi Gras parade party on Saturday 3rd March. For full Festival program visit www.ticketek.com.au or www.slide.com.au
