The Hayes Theatre Co may exist in a tiny black box theatre in the back streets of Potts Point, but their stature in the industry at the moment is much larger than their 110 seats may suggest with the cachet to assemble stellar casts. They have done it again with Evie May drawing together stars of both stage and screen.
The new Australian musical, produced by the Hayes Theatre Co and New Musicals Australia will star Amanda Harrison (Wicked, Rocky Horror) as Evie May and Loren Hunter (The Boy From Oz, Rent) as the younger Evelyn May Murphy. They will be joined by Keegan Joyce (Please Like Me, Rake, Big River) as Cole, Tim Draxl (Only Heaven Knows, A Place to Call Home) as Heaney, Jo Turner (Antony & Cleopatra, The Merchant of Venice) as Barlow and Bishanyia Vincent (Nell Gwynn, Starfish) as Margaret & June.
Forced to run away from home at an early age during WWII, Evie spent her whole life trying to escape the pain of her past. As the final curtain comes down on the Tivoli and everything that has come to define her, Evie struggles to find her place in a world that no longer values the very thing she has spent her life pursuing.
The production teams includes Director Kate Champion, Musical Director Steven Kreamer, Designer Anna Gardiner, Lighting Designer Sian James-Holland and Producer Julian Ramundi.
Evie May will play at The Hayes Theatre Co. Potts Point from 12 October 2018 with tickets and more information available at: Hayestheatre.com.au
