HAMILTON producer says the smash hit is heading to Australia

Here’s a bit of news you probably weren’t expecting at 9am on an as-yet unremarkable Wednesday morning: news broke overnight that Broadway’s Hamilton will open a production in Australia sometime after their London 2017 premiere.

The news first came to light in an extensive profile of Jeffrey Seller, Hamilton’s lead producer, in the New York Times. It read:

“Seller is working with the British producer Cameron Mackintosh on a “Hamilton” production to open in London in 2017, which will be followed by companies in Continental Europe and Australia.”

News breaks of exciting international shows travelling to Australia frequently and it doesn’t always happen – here’s hoping the production does not throw away their Aussie shot!

Written by Lin-Manuel Miranda, Hamilton tells the story of America’s Founding Fathers through rap music and diverse casting. The show has been lauded by many as revolutionary, and has amassed a large international fan following since opening in August of last year.
