Groundling Award Winners, QLD

Dubbed the ‘people’s choice awards of the Queensland theatre industry’, the Brisbane-based Greenroom’s awards (not to be confused with the Melbourne organisation), are in their second year of The Groundlings Awards.

The Groundlings are 14 categories of state only awards nominated and voted by the people or the ‘groundlings’ as it were, a nice balance with the Matildas, the other Queensland theatre awards that have no public input for nominations.

There is no actual award, trophy or ceremony for The Groundlings. The award is that warm fuzzy contentment of knowing that the ‘groundlings’ like you enough to go to the website and vote. Don’t let this deter you. As the song goes, from little things big things grow.

Queensland has long suffered from middle child syndrome when it comes to all the arts and it’s great to see a new celebration of our local success. Get on board and support your local talent.
