Following on from successful seasons in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane the world’s most famous flying nanny arrived in Perth last night for a limited run.

Playing at the Burswood Theatre until June 3, Mary Poppins presented by Disney and Cameron Mackintosh stars Lisa O’Hare as Mary and Matt Lee as the chimney sweep, Bert.

O’Hare makes her Australian debut as Mary Poppins having previously assumed the role in the West End and touring UK productions while Lee (best known for his role as judge on Channel Ten’s So you think you can Dance) continues as Bert for the Perth Season. Lee was recognized for his portrayal of the role winning the 2011 Helpman Award for Best Actor in a Musical.

Perth born Pippa Grandinson plays Mrs. Winifred Banks alongside Simon Burke as her husband, George Banks. The children Michael and Jane Banks are played by four sets of young actors all from various other states. Other supporting cast include Delia Hannah as Bird Woman, Philip Dodd as Admiral Boom, Natalie Gamsu as Mrs Andrew and Sally Upton as Mrs Brill.

Arriving just in time for the school holidays the Supercalifragilistic musical, which includes such musical classics as Chim, Chim Cher-ee, A Spoonful of Sugar, Step in Time and Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious is guaranteed to be a hit with the whole family, and a great way to introduce young audiences to the theatre.
