First cast announced for Bonnie Lythgoe’s Aladdin panto

Bonnie Lythgoe productions have just announced casting for the Australian premiere of Aladdin and his Wondrous Lamp, following up from their Snow White: Winter Family Musical success last year.

Lauren Brant (I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here) will play Princess Yasmina and Mat Verevis (The Voice) will play Aladdin. London West End star and comedian Kev Orkian will play “Wishee Washee”, Josh Adamson (last year’s Snow White) will play Abanazar and Prinnie Stevens will play Slave of the Ring.

Aladdin and his Wondrous Lamp will play at Sydney’s State Theatre in July. Bonnie Lythgoe will direct.

“I’m so excited to finally be working with Bonnie Lythgoe on Aladdin, which allows me to continue to combine my two loves singing and dancing,” Prinnie Stevens said.

The show is in the style of a traditional British family panto, which features family friendly comedy, magic, and contemporary music. Listen out for Bruno Mars’ “Treasure”, Taylor Swift’s “Shake it Off”, Coldplay’s “Viva La Vdia”, Tina Arena’s “Chains”, and LMFAO’s “Party Rock Anthem”, among others.

“Have I won you over yet? I hope so,” said Bonnie Lythgoe.

“This is a spectacular Aladdin season for everyone, music you know, familiar faces with twists and turns that you don’t expect. No one leaves without a smile and there is one wish you will never guess.”

If panto is your bag, tickets are no own sale via Ticketmaster. For more information about the show, and Bonnie Lythgoe’s pantos, visit bonnielythgoe.com.
