Festival Centre is fire safe

Patrons heading to the Adelaide Festival Centre are being assured that the venue is safe.

According to the ABC, an independent report commissioned by Arts SA found parts of the theatre complex have no audible or visual fire warning signals, some doors fail to comply with the building code of Australia and some exits were not kept clear.

Executive director of Arts SA Alex Reid told the ABC that the Festival Centre has fire safety checks every week.

“This is a report that is designed to assist us in planning for our future capital works requirements and our future capital works program,” she explained.

“The Centre and its fire safety systems are compliant and the Centre is safe to both the public and to staff.”
