Erin Cornell will join Australian cast of Cats as standby Grizabella
Australian musical theatre performer Erin Cornell will be joining the 2015-16 tour of CATS as Grizabella standby.
Cornell played the coveted role of Grizabella, The Glamour Cat in South Korea, Macau and Singapore in 2014-15 with the Asia Pacific company of CATS to critical acclaim. It is understood she will be engaged as a standby for pop star Delta Goodrem who is making her musical theatre debut in the upcoming Australian tour.
An official announcement was posted on Erin Cornell’s website earlier today:
Happy to announce that Erin Cornell will be the Grizabella Standby for CATS, Australia and New Zealand tour.
After playing the role for over a year in South Korea, Singapore, Macau and return season to South Korea, Erin is thrilled to be covering one of Australia’s biggest pop stars, Delta Goodrem, in the role.
A graduate of the Victorian College of the Arts’ Musical Theatre program, Cornell starred as Elphaba in Universal Studios Japan’s production of WICKED, appeared in Eddie Perfect’s workshop of Shane Warne -The Musical for The Melbourne International Comedy Festival and The Production Company’s Damn Yankees.
She has worked extensively in the UK, with credits including Bohemian Rhapsody – West End stars sing Queen (Original Cast, National and International Tour), An Evening with Dame Edna (Claridges), John Bucchino and Friends (St James Studio) and Mona in A Class Act (Landor Theatre).
Seriously? If you guys weren’t in Cats yourselves, would we really have an article about a cast member being demoted?
