Don’t don’t try this at home

Unless you’re a trained acrobat, when it comes to the risky business of circus performance ‘don’t try this at home’ is the emphatic advice. Yet Circa’s daredevil artists are doing just the opposite.

With most of us spending a lot more time at home than we’re accustomed to, Circa has released a series of videos full of tips and tricks for mastering fun circus activities with the use of simple household items.

“Don’t Don’t Try This At Home” is where you’ll discover the multiplicity of uses of the household broom; how to impress with an apple and fork and how to windsurf a sheet of paper, to name a few. Circa’s ensemble of artists continue to train and rehearse from their homes in Brisbane, with direction via video calls with Artistic Director Yaron Lifschitz and other members of the creative team.

Todd Kilby, who stars in the first instalment of “Don’t Don’t Try This At Home” said the series was aimed at spreading the joy of circus by providing an entertaining and creative avenue for children at home.

The videos provide a fun and interactive way for kids to be physical, have a laugh and hopefully see their household and its objects in new and creative ways, Todd said.

Visit Circa’s Youtube Channel, youtube.com/circacontemporarycircus where you can access all the “Don’t Don’t Try This At Home” videos already published.

New videos created by and starring Circa’s world-famous ensemble are published weekly.
