James Anthony Productions has secured the rights to the show and the wheels are now in motion to enlist a director and begin preparations for auditions.
Dirty Rotten Scoundrels opened on Broadway in 2005 and is based on the 1988 film of the same name. With music and lyrics by David Yazbek and book by Jeffrey Lane the Original Broadway Cast starred John Lithgow, Sherie Rene Scott and Norbert Leo Butz.
The Production Company (Melbourne) presented Dirty Rotten Scoundrels in 2009 starring Matt Hetherington and Marina Prior, but no commercial producer has brought the show to the Sydney stage thus far.
James Anthony Productions (George Youakim, Stephen Doorey and Alex Mair) operates out of Australia and the USA and is committed to producing new and existing works to provide audiences with unique and unforgettable experiences.
Youakim is also the producer of Sydney’s latest industry open mic night, Broadway Unplugged, which will commence at The Vanguard in Newtown on Monday 18 June.

This is a very clever musical. The Yazbek score sparkles and the lyrics are sophisticated. While also based on a movie this is one musical that will soar in Sydney. The producer deserves every success.
You have more confidence in the Sydney market than I do. With Lion King and Ballroom on at the same time - both with massive marketing budgets - I can't see a newcomer getting a look in.
