It has been confirmed that the Melbourne production of Love Never Dies will be filmed for international release on September 15, 2011.
An announcement today from the the Love Never Dies Facebook page confirmed that the production will be immortalised on film, although no estimated release date for the DVD has been given at this stage.
The DVD recording of Love Never Dies will be the first of it’s kind to be made in Australia, following in the footsteps of Really Useful Group’s recording of CATS in 1998 and Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat in 1999.
There is no doubt that the DVD will make household names of the show’s stars Ben Lewis (Phantom) and Anna O’Byrne (Christine) the world over. This announcement is another coup for the Australian theatre community, cementing our place on the international theatrical stage.
Limited tickets will still be sold for the performance on September 15, as there will be film crews and and cameras set up throughout the Regent Theatre auditorium. If you would like to be a part of this historical event, make sure you book your tickets early!
