It was today announced that Australia’s favourite young comedian Josh Thomas will host this year’s Light the Night charity concert on Monday, October 11 at 7.30pm at the City Recital Hall, Angel Place.

Josh will be joined by a number of big name stars who are showing their support for the worthy cause including Wendy Matthews, Nancye Hayes, Michael Cormick and Tim Draxl.

Also on the bill is contemporary a cappella group The Idea of North, multi-talented musician Daniel Edmonds, breakthrough blues and roots band Bonjah, cabaret chanteuse Natalie Gamsu, breathtaking lyric soprano Anita Watson, the star of Mary Poppins Verity Hunt Ballard, and members of the cast of Jersey Boys.

Other performers already confirmed include multi-award winning Australian songstress Katie Noonan, the writer and star of Shane Warne the Musical currently in Channel 10’s Offspring Eddie Perfect, Wicked star Rob Mills, the inspiring and natural talents of Old Man River, Classical Collective Aston, unique singer-songwriters Brian Campeau and Emma Dean, popular musical theatre performers Sheridan Harbridge and John O’Hara (joined by award-winning  young dancer Caleb Bartolo) and iOTA, star of the upcoming Ziggy, the Songs of David Bowie.

Now in its sixth year, Light the Night has become a “must see” on the Sydney Entertainment Calendar. After five years, funds raised at this event have exceeded $200,000 with all proceeds going towards funding leukaemia research. This year, money raised will go to the Arrow Bone Marrow Transplant Foundation to fund leukaemia research and to the Leukaemia Foundation to fund a courtesy transport vehicle supporting families and carers of those in need.

Light the Night is inspired by Matthew Rennie, a brave young man who fought a three year battle against leukaemia. Unfortunately Matthew passed away shortly before the 2007 concert.

Light the Night was created by Matthew’s two brothers, musical theatre performers Shaun Rennie and Adam Rennie, and friends Monica Smith and Greg Smith.
