Cast announcement for Australian premiere of Pasek and Paul’s Dogfight

A film adaptation with heart and soul, the new musical Dogfight is making its Australian debut at Sydney’s Hayes Theatre in May 2015. Directed by Neil Gooding, the first casting announcement is here, and it’s really exciting!

Luigi Lucente will star in Dogfight at Hayes Theatre Co.

With a book by Peter Duchan and music and lyrics by Benj Pasek and Justin Paul (A Christmas Story, Smash), this Off-Broadway critical and audience favourite is a great addition to Sydney’s booming independent musical theatre.

Dogfight is about three young men in 1963, and their final night of debauchery before their deployment to Vietnam. But when one of the young men meets Rose, a waitress, the rules of the night change significantly.

The Australian premiere cast will feature Johanna Allen (Wicked), Hilary Cole (Miracle City), Toby Francis (Truth, Beauty, and a Picture of You), Emily Havea (NIDA’s The Light in the Piazza), Haydan Hawkins (Carrie), Luigi Lucente (The Rocky Horror Show), Kyle Sapsford (The Ten Tenors), Mark Simpson (Forbidden Broadway), Jack Van Staveren (WAAPA’s Hair) and Rowan Witt (Into the Woods).

Musical direction will be by Isaac Hayward, choreography by Nathan M Wright, and lighting design by Ross Graham. Below, see Neil Gooding talk about the show!

Dogfight will run at Sydney’s Hayes Theatre from 1 – 31 May 2015. For bookings and more information visit www.hayestheatre.com.au.
