Watch This, Australia’s first company dedicated to performing works by legendary composer Stephen Sondheim, burst onto the Melbourne music theatre scene in 2013 with their production of Assassins (nominated for 3 Greenroom awards). Now an established and acclaimed independent production company with five Sondheim seasons and 12 Green Room Award nominations under their belt, they are a force to be reckoned with.

According to Artistic Director Sonya Suares, Merrily We Roll Along is a show about “dreams and desire… how we each chart our respective course and define ‘success'”. In true Sondheim fashion, it’s also about the cost of our choices. The musical plays out backwards through time in a reverse narrative, charting successful LA movie producer Franklin Shepard’s life as he tries to establish where he veered off course.

Merrily We Roll Along is playing June 29 – July 15 at the Lawler Theatre, Southbank Theatre Complex.

Tickets are available from the MTC website.
