Cabaret Showcase runner-up is a ‘Storm in a D Cup’

Playing to sold out houses since 2011 and newly minted Australian Cabaret Showcase runner-up, Amelia Ryan is a force to be reckoned with – and she’s bringing her show to Gingers on Oxford Street on May 8 and 12 before she makes it to the New York Musical Theatre Festival.

Amelia Ryan, Storm in a D Cup.

A Storm in a D Cup asks the question: When you’ve been blessed with a gay father and a transgender step-mother, you include ‘exotic dancer’ on resume, and you’ve caused the demise of four automobiles, what else is a girl to do but sing for her supper in a candid cabaret?

Paying homage to artists like 4 Non Blondes, Tim Minchin, Belinda Carlisle, and Rodgers and Hammerstein – and under the mentorship of cabaret superstar Trevor Ashley (Hairspray, I’m Every Woman, Liza On an E), Ryan invites you to observe her very own hot mess.
