The Perth season of the musical Buddy has been cancelled after the company producing it collapsed.
Live Theatre Productions Australia Pty Ltd has entered liquidation, and the company owes a range of entitlements to those working on the production.
However, those entitlements are set to be covered under the GEERS scheme. Only superannuation entitlements are in doubt, but Equity has taken up the cause for the cast.
Buddy opened in February at the Lyric Theatre in Sydney and has been touring around Australia.
The show, which is based on the life of Buddy Holly, marketed heavily on the fact that it has been 50 years since the musician was tragically killed in a plane crash.
Ticketek has removed Buddy from sale, and advised it will provide refunds to ticketholders for the Perth season.
