From the offstage barricades, music theatre purists seem to be ready for revolution over the ‘star casting’ in the upcoming film adaptation of Les Miserables.

American teen idol Taylor Swift has reportedly been offered the role of Eponine, according to twitchfilm.com, and the Mamma Mia! (film) star Amanda Seyfried has been offered the role of Cossette.

However, many Broadway buffs are in their very own Castles on a Cloud over the casting of Broadway star Aaron Tveit (pictured) as student leader Enjolras in the film.

Tveit is no stranger to the music theatre genre, having played Link in Hairspray, Fiyero in Wickedand Gabe in Next to Normal. This talented 28 year old actor has also made several appearances on the small screen, appearing in episodes of Gossip Girl, Ugly Betty and Law & Order.

Directed by Tom Hooper and starring Hugh Jackman and Russell Crowe the movie is set to begin filming in March 2012 with a release date late in the year.
