There are many great tales about the beauty of a woman and the power she has over the beast in her life. None of them is more popular than that ‘tale as old as time’ Beauty and the Beast.

The show features music by Alan Menken, lyrics by Howard Ashman and Tim Rice and a book by Linda Woolverton and is based on the 1991 Disney film of the same name. Disney’s Beauty was the first ever animated musical to win an Oscar (it won two in 1991) and began the modern love affair with children’s movies being adapted for the stage. It ran on Broadway for 5,464 performances between 1994 and 2007, has grossed more than $1.4 billion worldwide and has played in thirteen countries and 115 cities.

Now the magic of this wonderful musical with its cast of lovable characters, hilarious antics and infectious songs comes to Sydney’s south with the RMS production in September.

Directed by Chris Scarpellino, with musical direction by Chris King and choreography by Simone Salle, the cast features Elisa Atkins and Lachlan O’Brien as Belle and the Beast, Sean Atkins as Gaston, Daniel Cooper as Cogsworth, Tim Watson as Lumiere, Bianca Hicks as Babette plus John Brown, Johnny Acosta, Margaret Short, Nathan Chant, Julie Ryan, Emily Hart, Lisa Smith, Kellie Wilson and introducing Blake Hurford and Joshua Wallis sharing the child role of Chip.

Plus a large all-singing, all-dancing ensemble of almost twenty more!

Performances are at Rockdale Town Hall, Cnr Princess Highway and Bryant Street at 8pm on Friday 10, Saturday 11, Wed 15, Friday 17 and Saturday 18 September, plus 2pm matinees on Saturday 11, Sunday 12 and Saturday 18 September.
