Talk about the world – Bare Witness opens in QLD tonight

Bare Witness – Queensland Theatre Company

Taking audiences inside the experiences of photojournalists and foreign correspondents who risk their lives to report from war zones, Bare Witness has been lauded by Melbourne audiences for its innovative multimedia approach to theatre. Playwright, Mari Lourey draws on real life events over twenty years of ongoing international conflict.

Shortlisted for the 2008 Patrick White Playwrights Award and receiving the 2005 RE Ross Trust Script Development Award, the story centres around Dani Hill and her transformation from rookie photojournalist landing in Sarajevo to seasoned survivor with memories to make sense of – photography by photograph.

Described as “a beautiful theatrical immersion, a dramatic meeting of presence, movement and arrangement”, the production has been widely heralded as a remarkable piece of physical theatre, including a live musician onstage, hand-held stage lights, and video projections.

With Nadja Kostick directing and presented by Queensland Theatre Company, Bare Witness is playing at the Cremorne Theatre from tonight (October 9) until October 13, $25 for subscribers and $30 for non-subscribers. Mari Lourey promises; audiences leave talking about the world.
