Award-winning comedian Denise Scott to host GC Laughs Festival Gala

GC Laughs Festival is back for its second year, kicking off the week of non-stop comedy with the Gold Coast’s biggest comedy showcase hosted by award-winning comedian, Denise Scott, on March 14.

As announced today, audiences can expect to be howling with laughter thanks to the acclaimed Australian stand-up comedian, as she graces the stage to introduce a bill of the funniest international stars and homegrown heroes.

Winner of the 2017 Melbourne International Comedy Festival’s People’s Choice Award, Denise Scott hit big time over the last decade after scoring high profile television roles on Australian shows including, The Project, Talkin’ ‘bout Your Generation and Studio 10; sold out thousand-seat theatres with her comedy shows; and authored two national best-selling books.

GC Laughs Festival Co-Director, Josh Armstrong, said he is thrilled to announce Denise as the host of what is set to be a hilarious night of comedy.

“I can’t think of a better way to kick off the 2020 GC Laughs Festival than have Denise Scott, one of Australia’s top comedians, here on the Gold Coast to get the crowd roaring for a huge line-up of astounding comedic talent,” he said.

“All will be revealed on Gala night, but I can guarantee that audiences are in for a real treat with plenty of surprise guest comics and huge headliner that will deliver a gutful of laughs.”

Rising to stardom nearly thirty years ago, Denise hit the comedy stage in 2009 thanks to her national best-selling book and hit tour, All That Happened at Number 26.

With sell-out seasons at the Melbourne Comedy Festival and Sydney Opera House, Denise’s career rise followed with an award-winning solo show, Mother Bare, and the critically acclaimed set, Disappointments, with Judith Lucy.

Denise Scott will host the GC Laughs Festival Gala on March 14, held at HOTA, Home of the Arts.
