Aussie Les Miserables stars set to join international productions: Broadway, West End and South East Asia

Australian audiences in Melbourne, Perth and Sydney have already had the chance to witness our brilliant Aussie cast in action in Boublil & Schönberg’s legendary musical, Les Misérables. Brisbane is getting ready to experience our talented people as the show opens for a season from 10 November – but soon, audiences around the world are going to experience the best of the best on barricades in some seriously exciting time zones.

Simon Gleeson (whose performance as Jean Valjean earned him a Helpmann award) will lead Les Mis in Manila and Singapore, starring alongside Rachelle Ann Go, from the West End Les Mis family, and Earl Carpenter, from Broadway.

Hayden Tee will stride onto Broadway as Javert, a performance that won him a Green Room Award.

And our Fantine, Patrice Tipoki, will head to the West End to reprise her role, before joining Gleeson in the Singapore production next May.

“One of the joys of the huge success of the new Les Misérables is the revelation of a new generation of major Australian talents including Simon Gleeson, Hayden Tee and Patrice Tipoki,”  Cameron Mackintosh said.

“It is always a pleasure to share the wealth of Australian talent around the world.”

Executive Producer Michael Cassel said “It’s thrilling that just two years ago we introduced the Australian company of Les Misérables and as we prepare to farewell Australian audiences with our final season in Brisbane, the talents of this stellar cast will continue to wow audiences on tour in Manila, Singapore and now, on Broadway and the West End. I couldn’t be prouder.”

The new Australian production of Les Mis won five Helpmann awards this year including Best Musical, Best Male Actor in a Musical, Best Female Actor in a Supporting Role in a Musical, Best Lighting Design and Best Sound Design.

It has been seventeen years since the show last played Brisbane, and tickets are on sale now for the season.
