Ausdance Victoria launching sector-wide survey

Ausdance VIC, Victoria’s Peak Body for dance, is launching its annual survey to collect data about the people, the economy, and the future of the state’s dance community.

Ausdance VIC is the government-recognised, and membership-based, advocacy body for all things dance. the survey results will help the organisation better represent the interests of the sector.

Executive Director Michelle Silby:

We want to know more about who is involved in dance in the state and why, We are advocates for diversity in the sector, so answers to the who, where, when, why, and how questions about dance and dancers are of great interest

As the state comes out of the COVID-19 restrictions, Ausdance VIC wants to continue its advocacy for the dance community and the survey data will make this job easier, Whether you’re a professional dancer, teacher, choreographer, student, or business owner in the sector, your views are important to us.

Once the numbers are crunched, Ausdance VIC will be reporting its findings to members, and to the Victorian government. This data will help us to improve our services to members and our ongoing advocacy for the whole sector.

The survey questions are easy to follow says Ms Silby and shouldn’t take more than 10-15 minutes to complete. Ausdance VIC guarantees the survey results will be de-identified and aggregated to preserve privacy and confidentiality.

There are no right or wrong answers it’s not a test. We want the sector to help us understand where it’s at and what it needs,The responses will help shape the future of Dance in Victoria and Ms Silby is encouraging everyone engaged with dance to complete the survey.

Whether you are working as a professional, a dance parent, or somebody who just loves to boogie in a social setting, we want to know what you’re thinking.

The survey is designed to allow different sectors and individuals to let Ausdance VIC know about their specific experiences in dance. Questions are tailored to different roles and types of participation, from professional dancers who are sole traders or who work in a company, to dance studios, students and parents. “You can complete the survey as an individual, or as a representative of a dance business or organisation, We want a cross-section of the dance sector to be involved, so we’ve made navigating the survey as easy as possible.

The survey is open from 25 November and will close on 31 December 2021.

Everyone who completes the survey will go in the draw to win a $500 Visa Gift Card or one of five 12-month Ausdance VIC individual memberships. The winners will be notified via email or phone by 31 January.
