Following successful seasons in Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane Annie opens at Burswood Theatre (soon to be renamed Lyric Theatre) tomorrow night for a limited five week run.

Staring Todd McKenny as Rooster, Nancye Hayes as Miss Hannigan, Michael Cormick as Daddy Warbucks and Bert Newton as Frankin D. Roosevelt.

The score is full of memorable tunes including ‘It’s a Hard Knock Life’, ‘Easy Sreet’, ‘N.Y.C’ and the optimistic, ‘Tomorrow”.

Premiering on Broadway back in 1977, Annie enjoyed a run of nearly six years and since then has delighted audiences both on stage and as a smash hit movie staring Aileen Quinn, Albert Finney and Carol Burnett.

Producer John Frost is thrilled with the way Australia has embraced this revival of Annie, which began performances at the Lyric Theatre, Sydney in December 2011.

“It gives me great pleasure to bring Annie back to Australian audiences. When I produced this show 12 years ago I was overwhelmed by the response it received”, he said.

“Annie is such a well known, well loved production that appeals to so many different age groups. Its popularity means that it is staged once a year in many countries around the world, and I have no doubt that the Australian audiences are well and truly ready to see it again.”

Presented by The Gordon Frost Organisation (GFO) Annie follows on from previously successful musicals presented in Perth, including Chicago and Wicked.

Annie plays from Friday 24 August — Sunday 23 September
