Sydney Theatre Company’s Actor on a Box series is set to return in April during the NSW Autumn school holidays. Created and directed by Jonathan Biggins (Avenue Q), he has turned his talents towards theatre for young people for the first time with his contribution to the series, The Tale Maker.

Actor on a Box is a series of school holiday shows designed to introduce the magic of theatre to young audiences. Combining one actor, classic storytelling, and physical theatre, these fun and intimate performances are to be staged at the Richard Wherrett Studio, Sydney Theatre, from Thursday 12 – Sunday 22 April.

The Tale Maker will be performed by Lucia Mastrantone (Tangle) as school librarian Miss Woolf, who will bring timeless tales to life in the show. Children aged 4 and up will be able to laugh at the Emperor’s New Clothes, travel into the forest with Hansel and Gretel, and will even venture right into the clouds to watch Jack conquer the giant lurking at the top of his beanstalk. The Tale Maker will re-create the magic of fairytales from the Brothers Grimm to Hans Christian Andersen, inspiring children to use their imaginations and tell their own stories.

Actor On A Box has been made possible through the support of the The Girgensohn Foundation, Joanna R. Love and the Nelson Meers Foundation.
