A (Very) Musical Christmas album to be released

Fresh from its 2025 ARIA Award nomination for Best Original Soundtrack or Musical Theatre Cast Album– set to be awarded at the annual event on 19 November 2025 – A (VERY) MUSICAL CHRISTMAS returns this year with a brand-new album capturing the magic of the 2025 production, filmed live on the set of MJ THE MUSICAL in Melbourne and hosted by Australian media icon Zan Rowe.

Presented by Michael Cassel Group and the ABC, this festive celebration unites Australia’s brightest musical theatre stars to reimagine beloved carols and Christmas classics like never before. The new live recording will be released on 5 December, allowing audiences to relive the joy all season long.

Audiences can tune in for A (VERY) MUSICAL CHRISTMAS on ABC TV at 7.30pm, Friday 19 December, and stream it anytime on ABC iview from 1 December. The album will be available from 5 December across all streaming platforms and is available for pre-save now.

The 2025 album features an inspired mix of reimagined holiday favourites and moving contemporary performances. Highlights include powerful renditions of “Angels We Have Heard” (Georgina Hopson), “All I Want For Christmas Is You” (Karis Oka), “All Those Christmas Cliches” (Rob Mills), and a poignant company finale of “Let There Be Peace”. The full tracklist also includes the festive favourite, “Jingle Bells” (Cast of Beetlejuice The Musical) recorded live in front of a full audience on the set of MJ THE MUSICAL at Her Majesty’s Theatre in Melbourne.

For the second year, A (VERY) MUSICAL CHRISTMAS proudly supports Beyond Blue, shining a light on importance of mental health and wellbeing during the festive season, which can be a challenging time for many. Proceeds from the live recording event will support Beyond Blue’s free, 24/7 Support Service, which provides immediate, confidential mental health support to people across Australia whenever they need it via phone, webchat or email.

Michael Cassel, Producer and CEO of Michael Cassel Group:

After the phenomenal response to last year’s album, and the honour of an ARIA nomination recognising that work, we’re thrilled to bring audiences another live recording to celebrate the broadcast of A (VERY) MUSICAL CHRISTMAS. This project has become a cherished celebration of community, talent and generosity, sharing the joy of the season while supporting Beyond Blue’s vital work.

A (VERY) MUSICAL CHRISTMAS is proudly supported by TEG (Ticketek Entertainment Group) and Her Majesty’s Theatre.
