  • Dave Arden with Daniel James – 4 October 2023
  • Kate Ceberano with Jane Gazzo – 19 October 2023

The first episode is live, with host Brian Nankervis exploring the iconic career of pop trail-blazer Normie Rowe. You can watch here.

Normie Rowe gives the backstory to his meteoric rise from a Melbourne muso to the King of Pop during the transformative ‘swinging sixties’. From the explosion of pop-culture in Australia, unexpected stardom to the challenges of war, this Long Play is immaculate and perfectly timed with Normie Rowe’s 18 September show for Morning Melodies at Hamer Hall.

Deborah Conway’s interview with Jane Gazzo on 20 September talks topping the charts, women in the music industry and the creative chemistry with life partner Willy Zygier. Conway made waves on Australia’s cultural fabric from 1980’s as lead singer of Do-Re-Mi, backed up with solo standout albums. The journey continues with an impending national tour of Songs from the Book of Life showing at Arts Centre Melbourne’s Fairfax Studio from 4 – 7 October, in conjunction with autobiography Book of Life.

Kokatha/Gunditjmara songman Dave Arden is next up on 4 October, talking to Daniel James about family heritage, racism, incarceration and keeping his mobs’ storytelling alive in song.

Arden details his creative emergence in the 1980’s with Koori Youth Band, groundbreaking solo releases Kookatha/Gunditjmara (2008), Red Desert Man (2020) and touring with icons Bart Willoughby, Archie Roach, Ruby Hunter, Kutcha Edwards and more.

On 19 October ARIA Award winning artist Kate Ceberano reminisces with Jane Gazzo about the music scene in the 1980’s, performing at the World Music Awards alongside Prince, Sting and Grace Jones, and her place in the ever-changing musical landscape.
