A New Brain will open at Sidetrack Theatre, Marrickville  on October 26, and play for a limited three week season. The show is set to be another huge success for Squabbalogic, cementing it’s reputation as one of Sydney’s most innovative and progressive new production companies Written by American composer-lyricist William Finn, A New Brain is a moving and exuberant musical account of his real-life medical emergency and the role of heart and music in his recovery. Co-written by James Lapine (Into the Woods), this sardonic and colourful take on one man’s experience with a life-threatening condition is laced with with buoyant melodies and a beautiful story. The show follows composer Gordon in his struggle to write a song for children’s TV character Mr Bungee. The disgruntled artist’s wake-up call arrives in the form of a sudden collapse. In hospital, we enter Gordon’s anaesthetised dreams where he is haunted by Mr Bungee, a cast of quirky characters, and the demons of his unfinished work. Can Gordon acquire a new lease on life without the need for a new brain?  Directed by Craig Stewart, with musical director Alex Ash and choreographer Simone Salle, A New Brain features an all-star cast:
