2013 Queensland Shakespeare Ensemble Apprentice Program and Core Ensemble Auditions

2013 Queensland Shakespeare Ensemble Apprentice Program and Core Ensemble Auditions

The Queensland Shakespeare Ensemble Apprentice Program

The Queensland Shakespeare Ensemble are now accepting applications for their Apprentice Program and Core Ensemble Auditions which will be held on the 1st and 2nd of December.

Applications are welcome from any age and you do not need any previous experience in performing Shakespeare. Apprentice training includes the Linklater voice method, QSE's approaches to working with classical text, and Theatre of the Oppressed. You will also be exposed to activities involved in running a theatre company and producing a production.

The Apprenticeship is ideally suited to emerging artists. The cost of the Apprentice Program is $600 (plus $20 membership), in exchange for $2,000 worth of training plus mentoring from experienced company members. There is one $500 scholarship available for an apprentice who is either in their final year of a degree program at an Australian university or who has graduated w

ith a degree from an Australian university in the previous year. The scholarship is awarded on the basis of merit alone.

The one week intensive on Stradbroke Island was an amazing experience. By the end of the week I felt like my head was so full of new ideas, and I was inspired to explore my acting in different directions. The classes forced me to explore parts of myself I didn't know existed, with surprising results. It was an emotional rollercoaster, but well worth the ride. 2 years later and I'm still in love with Shakespeare, so QSE must have done something right. – Ellen Hardisty, 2011 Apprentice

QSE Core Ensemble

Applicants for the Core Ensemble will be skilled actors with a passion for performing Shakespeare and a strong desire and capacity for being part of an artist-managed ensemble.  Applicants for the Core Ensemble should be familiar with QSE's work and activities, and ideally would have some previous experience with QSE's training. It is highly unlikely that an applicant who has not performed or trained with QSE before would be invited to audition for the Core Ensemble.

Applications close 5pm Friday 23 November. For details on how to apply and the audition process, please visit: qldshakespeare.org/
