Six finalists have been confirmed for the 2012 Rob Guest Endowment, which will take place in Melbourne next month in a Gala Concert at Her Majesty’s Theatre.

Hundreds of Australian performers under the age of 30 applied and auditioned for judges Kellie Dickerson, Jason Coleman and Stuart Maunder last month and the final six are now preparing for the event of a lifetime.

Andrew Conaghan (South Pacific), Euan Doidge (A Chorus Line, Legally Blonde the Musical), Samm Hagen (Rock of Ages), Glenn Hill (Legally Blonde the Musical, Dr Zhivago), Allyce Martins (Wicked) and Kirby Burgess (An Officer & A Gentlemen), survived rigorous singing and dancing auditions in Sydney and will now have the chance to perform with a full orchestra at the 2012 Rob Guest Endowment Gala Concert sharing the spotlight with a ‘who’s who’ of Australian show business.

The winner of the 2012 Rob Guest Endowment will receive the opportunity to study in New York under the guidance of the best that Broadway has to offer to the value of $10,000.

For the very first time in 2012, the runner up will win the inaugural ‘Production Company Artists Development Award’, which is a cash prize of $5,000 and features a guaranteed live performance in one of the Production Company’s seasons in the following two years.

The other four finalists will also receive a $500 cash prize.

Originally established as a platform for emerging artists to showcase their talents before the industry and to honour the memory of Australia’s much-loved star, Rob Guest OBE, whose sudden passing in 2008 shocked the industry, the fourth annual Rob Guest Endowment will take place on November 19.

This year’s concert will be hosted by Bert Newton, Lucy Durak and Rob Mills and will feature performances by some of Australia’s finest musical theatre stars, including the casts of A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum and South Pacific.

AussieTheatre will feature interviews with the six finalists during the lead up to this year’s gala event.
