POSITION PURPOSE
The Venue Producer is a dynamic role that actively promotes Queensland Ballet’s venues, develops interest from prospective hirers, and grows and retains connections across sectors. Such venues include the Talbot Theatre, Kite Terrace as well as various spaces and studios at the Thomas Dixon Centre in West End and Queensland Ballet Academy in Kelvin Grove. The role will partner closely with our hospitality partner, internal teams and external stakeholders to proactively seek opportunities to engage venue hirers and events, maximising venue occupancy and revenue and minimising costs. With a passion for our sectors, including arts, education, health, disability and not-for-profit, the successful candidate will have a flair for relationship management and venue-related business development, and an understanding of ticketing, venue management and front-of-house services.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide high-level producing support to integrate a year-round program of multi-arts venue activations to complement home Company seasons and activities, ensuring effective communication, management and financial systems are implemented.
- Work closely with internal teams to facilitate extraordinary deliverables for our VIPs, particularly donors and corporate partners.
- Work closely with internal teams to ensure that activities align with the overarching strategic goal of increasing audiences and revenue through diversified, brand-aligned venue activations including bar, venue hirers and events.
- With the Venue & Sector Relations Manager, develop and manage all stages of the venue hire process, from enquiry to agreement finalisation, to deliver a suite of curated venue hire activities.
- Act as a key liaison, fostering collaborative relationships with hirers, tenants and sector stakeholders and partners.
- Develop and manage the TDC Access Program, identifying key collaboration opportunities.
- Liaise with our Hospitality Partner (who identifies and delivers commercial hire opportunities) to ensure venue hire catering and hospitality requirements are met.
- Represent Queensland Ballet/Thomas Dixon Centre at relevant sector events and provide positive advocacy for the company, building strong cross-sector relationships.
- Deliver accurate reporting as required.
KEY CRITERIA
- Minimum of three years’ experience in a new business development role with demonstrated ability to manage client relationships to high satisfaction levels.
- Effective and efficient producing of events and venue activation programs, on schedule, within budget and with demonstratable positive outcomes in stakeholder, artist and audience satisfaction and earned income targets.
- Successful establishment and oversight of brand, culture, and values across venue programming activities, with consideration for both wellbeing, equality and inclusion principles in practice.
- High level of verbal and written communication skills, combined with the ability to work positively and collaboratively with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders and demonstrate customer service excellence.
- Excellent scheduling, budgeting, negotiating and logistical planning skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines whilst ensuring vibrant, values-aligned, and sustainable programming for activation of our venues year-round.
- Excellent computer skills with particular emphasis on database maintenance, spreadsheets and mail merges.
DESIRABLE CRITERIA
- Familiarity with the arts industry is desirable but not essential.
- Experience with Artifax or similar venue and event management software.
- A strong network of clients or leads that can be leveraged for new business development.
- Knowledge of WELL certification requirements
