The RoleThe Unit Manager, Creative Communities is instrumental in contributing towards the strategic direction of the department and supporting arts, culture and events in the City of Whittlesea. They are responsible for effectively managing the resources, finances, reporting and staffing requirements to achieve the department strategies.

A key aspect of the role is leading and supporting a strong team of creative professionals, who deliver a diverse portfolio of programs and creative disciplines. The Unit Manager, Creative Communities provide oversight of the project management process, ensuring they are effectively managed, whilst leading on key projects.

The work of this role will be required to build and maintain collaborative relationships with Departments across Council, the community and key external stakeholders to contribute to vibrant and cohesive community.

About youThe Unit Manager, Creative Communities is a dynamic position that has a deep understanding the creative sector and a strategic mindset to deliver innovative programs for the community. You will be expected to balance the strategic direction, resources and creative process to deliver exception cultural outcomes.

You will have strong relationship management skills with stakeholders, artists, and staff with a mindset to deliver exceptional experiences & engagement for the general public. You will have strong people management, financial, and project management skills.

There is a renewed enthusiasm and revitalisation of Creative Communities department and creative direction, making it an exciting time to join the team. You will have a strong commitment to the arts and an understanding the impact arts & culture can have to community wellbeing, economic impact, and social cohesion & belonging.
