Are you an experienced curator and collections expert passionate about bringing art and heritage items to the heart of our community? If so, we want you to be a part of our team!

The Project Curator, Collection will lead the curation, display and storage of Council’s Art and Heritage Collection as it returns to the newly built Civic Precinct building, contributing to rich and meaningful cultural experiences for the Maribyrnong community.

About You

Expertise: You have tertiary qualifications in visual art, museum or cultural collections and/or substantial experience within the arts sector in curation and collections management.

Curatorial: You have significant skills and experience in the curation of collections that engage and inspire diverse audiences.

Collections Management: You have strong knowledge and experience in collections management including the preservation and conservation of heritage objects and artworks, with the ability to manage and/or procure suppliers to deliver these services.

Project Management: You excel in project management, ensuring that projects and assets are delivered on time and on budget. Your organisational skills are second to none, and you thrive in finding solutions to challenges, turning obstacles into opportunities.

Relationship Builder: You demonstrate capacity to work productively with stakeholders from a range of backgrounds and internally within Council, fostering positive relationships.

Clear Communicator: You possess well-developed written skills, including experience in interpreting collections, web or social media content, display panels, catalogues and other documents that assist the community in interpreting and appreciating the Collection.

Problem-Solving Dynamo: Your developed problem-solving skills include hands-on experience in working with new building infrastructure projects to implement display, storage and interpretation systems that are effective, flexible and meet industry standards.
