The Arts and Culture team is the lead Council agency for delivering the arts and cultural development strategic priorities of the City of Gold Coast (City). The team undertakes this task in partnership with other departments and branches, all levels of government, artists, creative practitioners, arts and cultural organisations and the community.

The Unit works closely with the Gold Coast creatives and creative enterprises to deliver opportunities for artistic, cultural, and creative activity to develop, prosper and champion creative expression.

About your new role

You will contribute to the development and promotion of Indigenous artists through the delivery of programs and initiatives that elevate the rich Indigenous heritage and culture of the Gold Coast.

This role delivers on strategies and objectives while laying the groundwork for the development of the Gold Coast arts and culture sector.

This position requires extensive stakeholder engagement, as you will confidently influence, negotiate, and collaborate with internal stakeholders and various levels of government and industry to drive a rich and outcome focused program of activities that builds the capacity and skills of our local indigenous arts sector.

About you

We are seeking someone with a strong background and networks in the First Nations arts and cultural sector, combined with well-developed partnership/stakeholder engagement and program management skills. You will have strong communication skills to deal with a number of complex projects, project briefs and reports.

You will have excellent program management skills, including experience in team and budget management. You will develop and manage strategic pathways and opportunities aligned with the City’s vision. You will have experience in the delivery of programs and initiatives that support inclusion, engagement and the development of underrepresented Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander artists and arts practitioners.
