Executive Producer – Full-time Permanent

Details: Canberra Theatre Centre (CTC) is Canberra’s premier performing arts venue, offering world-class facilities and a dynamic range of programming. Located in Canberra’s civic district, CTC is a cornerstone of the city’s cultural landscape.

The Executive Producer position is a unique and exciting role that is responsible for leading and inspiring the Programming and Presenter Services team, and ensuring coherence and consistency in commissioning and scheduling activities across the Canberra Theatre Centre’s (CTC) venues engaging with wide audiences.

Reporting to the Director and working closely with the Senior Management team, the role focuses on delivering a new Programming Creative Strategy. This involves balancing a mix of subsidised, shared risk, commercial, produced, co-produced, and hired activities across the venues. Creative leadership, informed by strategic networking and coordination with touring companies, agencies, and artists within the Australian arts sector, is key to this role. The role builds partnerships across the sector to support skills development, commissions, and collaborations.

Canberra Theatre Centre (CTC) is on the cusp of a remarkable transformation, poised to become a vibrant arts hub. This ambitious redevelopment will introduce a new 2,000-seat world-class theatre, a transformed and flexible Canberra Theatre, a refreshed Playhouse, and a new Studio Theatre. These enhancements will more than double the Centre’s current capacity, allowing it to host an even broader array of performances and events, firmly establishing it as a leader in both the national and international arts scenes.

The Executive Producer will play a crucial role across the Cultural Facilities Corporation (CFC), particularly during the period of significant change. The redeveloped CTC will be integral to building the city’s identity and driving its ambition to be a destination for the community, day and night.

The redevelopment paves the way for an Executive Producer to build powerful synergies with other national cultural and learning organisations in cultural expression, civic development, tourism, talent retention, economic development, and jobs. This Executive Producer will lead a creative strategy to take advantage of this transformation of capacity and significance, ensuring it is essentially integrated into the fabric and identity of the city.

CTC welcomes and encourages applications from people with disability, the LGBTQI+ communities, from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, and people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds.

Note: This is a permanent position located in Canberra.
