Choral Tutors & Tutor Trainees (systematic casual)
The Australian Girls Choir is looking for enthusiastic and motivated Tutors & Tutor Trainees to join our team!
Looking to add a few weekly hours of rewarding work in the Performing Arts that will fulfil your artistic side?
The Australian Girls Choir (AGC) is Australia’s leading children’s performing arts organisation, dedicated to empowering girls through music. We have approximately 6,500 choristers training in six Australian cities and we’re looking for more choral tutors and tutor trainees to join our team in Brisbane.
We currently have 3 rehearsal venues located in Brisbane in Holland Park, Indooroopilly and McDowall.
We’re an innovative, collaborative and dynamic workplace, where a shared interest in the performing arts brings together many people with unique skills from a variety of backgrounds.
We have a number of opportunities available within our team for individuals with experience in performing arts and singing & music teaching.
Successful teaching applicants will have:
- A passion for girls’ education and desire to champion the value of Performing Arts participation
- Experience in music, performing arts and/or education
- Commitment to teaching weekly classes during school terms as well as occasional relief covers and weekend work for events
- Experience teaching groups of children between the ages of 5 and 11 (desired)
- A qualification in music and/or teaching or working towards a qualification in either field (desired)
- Experience with the Kodaly method of teaching (desired)
- A valid Working with Children Check and preferably, a driver’s license
Additional Opportunities
Alongside our regular classes, our Tutors and Tutor Trainees can be/are involved in a number of other great, remunerated opportunities and events. These can include:
- Staff Replacement work, which involves covering classes when the regular Tutor is absent
- Open Days
- Production Rehearsal Days
- Concert Days
- External Engagements
Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills are essential for all positions, along with a passion for the performing arts and an interest in and love of teaching children.
As classes are extra-curricular most of our casual staff members study or hold full-time positions outside the AGC. Many of our tutors find that working with the AGC provides them with an opportunity to collaborate with a dynamic team of teaching professionals; complements their performance practice and contributes to their sense of personal achievement.
ASPA embodies passion, enthusiasm, dedication and energy. We work hard but have a lot of fun too!
If you have a passion for teaching and the performing arts, and can’t wait to bring your enthusiasm, energy and flair to our team, please send your one page cover letter and resume in one document addressed to our HR Administrator, Jacinta Simpson.
