OUR CULTURAL VENUES:
Our brand-new Cultural Centre, Berninneit, on Phillip Island opened in late 2023 and is celebrated by locals, tourists and the many performers who grace its stage. This state-of-the-art venue is a hub of entertainment, celebration, and collaboration. Together with the hugely popular Arts Centre in Wonthaggi, our team provides an enriching immersive cultural experience. Both venues have raked seating theatres with 250+ and 400+ capacities respectively, equipped with the latest audio, lighting and digital AV technology. Berninneit also houses multi-purpose community spaces, opening new opportunities for creative practice, education and events in the region.
ABOUT THE ROLE:
Join our Arts, Culture and Heritage team at Bass Coast Shire Council. This exciting role is integral to the successful delivery of live performance and events across Bass Coast Cultural Venues. You’ll be able to lead a high performing team and make your mark on event delivery on the Bass Coast. This position provides a leading role in setting the culture across the Event Delivery team.
This is your opportunity to:

- deliver professional touring theatre, live music, comedy, cinema, community theatre, cultural events, exhibitions, and functions.
- ensure consistency of presenter services, by leading the team to provide a safe, customised and personal approach to event requirements.
- develop the knowledge and creativity of our event delivery team and build capacity with internal and community users.
- create strong relationships, built on our Customer @ Centre philosophy.
ABOUT YOU:
- You are an engaging team leader able to lead a multidisciplinary team to success by sharing your knowledge and expertise, while also learning from others.
- You’ll be highly organised and possess substantial experience in the planning and delivery of live performance and events.
- Your innovative and creative approach will lead and contribute to process improvements and efficiency
- You will bring confidence to financial duties such as budget reporting and estimating event costs.
Council supports flexible workplace practices, however due to the nature of the role we require flexibility to undertake work that best supports venue operations across all locations. While the role is mainly delivered within flexible office hours, it may on occasion include evenings and weekends. We are always open to discuss any individual modifications or requirements to support your ongoing success and development, with training and professional development opportunities available ongoing. Our proximity to Melbourne means there are great learning and development opportunities close at hand.
