We are looking for an Audience Engagement Coordinator to work collaboratively with our Marketing Manager to deliver the needs of our annual Liveworks Festival at Carriageworks. This new role will encompasses Marketing, FOH, Ticketing and Audience Engagement.

Title: Audience Engagement Coordinator

Hours: Part-time and Full time, (see schedule)

Basis of employment: Casual Contract, Festival Role

Remuneration: Pro Rata $60,000 p.a. plus super

Reports to: Marketing Manager



Performance Space is the crucible for risk-taking artists. Emerging over 40 years ago in response to artists’ articulated desire to explore and investigate new forms of art, Performance Space has consistently identified, nurtured and presented new directions in contemporary practice. We champion risk, experimentation, and new modes of creative expression. Performance Space continues to evolve and renew to meet the needs of the independent sector and explore new models for developing and presenting the most critical and important new work.



Liveworks is Performance Space’s annual major presentation season, spanning 5 days in October and activating the entire Carriageworks precinct: every theatre, gallery and studio space as well as the public and exterior spaces of the building. Throughout these spaces, Liveworks presents the most exciting new artists and works from across Australia and the Asia-Pacific region in an intensive festival environment. Liveworks has already found a unique place in Australia’s arts ecology: fostering the most innovative new developments in contemporary art in the region, and connecting them with a broad, diverse and growing audience.



The Audience Engagement Coordinator works closely with the Marketing Manager and the Performance Space team, working as an important point of contact between Performance Space and our audience, subscribers and key stakeholders.

This role assists in the delivery of the strategic marketing plan for Liveworks. Covering all areas of communications including social media, e-news, website, collateral, ticketing and media and working with internal and external partners to deliver the comprehensive marketing and communications plan. This role is also responsible for the delivery of the PSpace Youth Ambassadors Program.

This role is responsible for managing in-house ticketing procedures, working closely with the CEO and Marketing team to deliver a smooth audience experience plan. This will include supplying information to Carriageworks for the ticketing build, managing comps, and overseeing FOH during the festival. The Coordinator works closely with the Venue (Carriageworks) Ticketing, Front of House Manager and Visitor Services Officers to ensure a smooth festival experience for audiences.




  • Assist the Marketing Manager in the successful delivery of the Liveworks marketing and communications plan, working across print, digital and social media
  • Create engaging electronic and print marketing collateral that promotes Performance Space’s programs and activities across digital platforms
  • Manage the delivery of selected digital marketing and social media campaigns, under the supervision of the Marketing Manager
  • Assist the Marketing Manager with the development and delivery of audience development strategies

Audience Engagement

  • Manage the PSpace Youth Ambassadors Program during the Liveworks period
  • Plan Ambassador events
  • Liaise with, and support, youth ambassadors during their attendance at PSpace events


  • Manage the ticketing process and audience experience for Liveworks
  • Work closely with Carriageworks ticketing staff to ensure all Liveworks ticketing and requirements are met
  • Collate and distribute ticketing reports and other data analysis to assist with the marketing aims of the company
  • Respond to customer service inquiries and resolve any issues that may arise
  • Manage opening night tickets, VIP and artists complimentary ticket allocations with the programming team, Development Manager and CEO

Front of House

  • Work closely with the Carriageworks Front of House Manager and FOH team to plan all audience needs of the festival
  • Undertake general duties as required including office administration, general enquiries and attending staff meetings
  • Manage a small number of FOH volunteers to streamline audience experience




  • Experience in delivering a marketing strategy in a fast paced environment
  • Excellent organisational and administrative skills including experience in word processing, spreadsheets, databases, mail clients, Adobe suite and working on Mac computers
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • A high level of oral and written communication including copywriting and editing skills
  • Experience using Facebook, X, Tik Tok and Instagram for marketing purposes
  • Demonstrated initiative and an ability to problem solve in the work-place and prioritise competing demands
  • Experience in audience/customer engagement
  • Exceptional customer service skills (preferably in Front of House or audience engagement)
  • High level problem solving skills and experience in resolution of customer issues
  • High level of oral and written communication and customer service skills
  • Experience working with word processing, spreadsheets and email software
  • Ability to work weekends and evenings


  • Experience in an arts organization or interest in the arts
  • Experience in event or festival delivery
  • Experience in digital and direct marketing campaigns
  • Experience working on the back end of websites
  • Experience creating webpages – using templates
  • Knowledge of contemporary arts practice and the confidence to engage with artists and audience
  • Video editing skills
