The Traitors: Acts of Betrayal Sets West End Premiere Dates and Five Play Format

The Traitors is heading to the West End with a stage adaptation that will put a theatrical twist on the hit reality format.

Titled The Traitors: Acts of Betrayal, the production will have its world premiere at London’s Gillian Lynne Theatre next year. Previews are scheduled to begin on May 11, 2027, ahead of an official opening night on June 8. Tickets are now on sale.

Written by John Finnemore and directed by Robert Hastie, the production will be presented as a cycle of five new plays, all inspired by the central mechanics of The Traitors. Each weekday performance will begin from the same premise before branching into one of five different stories.

The format means the same cast and characters will appear across multiple versions of the drama, but their fates will change depending on the performance. A character who is eliminated early in one version could survive much longer, or even win, in another. Producers say each play will stand alone while also contributing to a wider connected theatrical experience.

Saturday performances will add a further layer of audience involvement. Theatregoers will help decide which character becomes a Traitor, with that choice shaping which version of the story is performed and how the events of the evening unfold. As a result, Saturday matinee and evening audiences could see different outcomes.

The project is co-produced by Studio Lambert, the company behind the television format, and Neal Street Productions. Studio Lambert chief executive Stephen Lambert described the stage version as a way to explore paranoia, betrayal and human behaviour under pressure, while Neal Street co-founder Caro Newling highlighted the scale of presenting a different play each weekday alongside audience-driven Saturday performances.

The stage adaptation marks a major expansion of The Traitors universe, transforming the show’s familiar themes of suspicion, strategy and shifting loyalties into a live theatrical event.
