Some Like It Hot Sets Sights on the West End in 2025

Billy Wilder’s cinematic masterpiece, Some Like It Hot, is once again in the spotlight. After capturing hearts on the silver screen, it’s gearing up to enchant West End theatre-goers. With a stellar score crafted by Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman and a gripping narrative penned by Matthew López and Amber Ruffin, the stage version’s magic is magnified under the direction and choreography of Casey Nicholaw. The play unravels a captivating tale: two musicians, on the run from the mob, dive undercover in an all-female band, leading to a series of humorous and unexpected events.

As Broadway bids adieu to this gem in December, anticipation builds for what lies ahead. The show’s journey is far from over, with a grand national tour slated for September 2024, climaxing with its West End debut in 2025. The venture is a collaboration between powerhouses like the Shubert Organization, Neil Meron, and Ambassador Theatre Group.

The commitment and passion behind the show are evident. Producers Robert Wankel and Neil Meron have expressed immense gratitude to the dedicated team, whose combined efforts brought laughter and joy to the Shubert Theatre for over a year. With a successful stint on Broadway that counted a remarkable 483 performances, the production’s accolades are notable. Among its achievements are four Tony Awards. It’s worth highlighting the breakthrough win of J Harrison Ghee, who etched their name in history as the first non-binary performer to clinch a Tony in their category.

This theatrical sensation is backed by an incredible team of creatives, from Scott Pask’s exquisite sets to Gregg Barnes’ award-winning costumes. As we await further details on venues, dates, and casting, one thing is certain: the West End is in for a sizzling treat.

Details regarding venues, dates, and casting will be announced soon.
