Simu Liu is set to make his Broadway debut, joining the hit comedy Oh, Mary! in the role of Mary’s Teacher. The actor will begin performances on February 3, 2026, appearing in the production through April 21 at the Lyceum Theatre.
Liu is widely known for his leading role in Marvel’s Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, as well as his work on the acclaimed comedy series Kim’s Convenience and Greta Gerwig’s Barbie. He currently stars in and executive produces the upcoming Peacock series The Copenhagen Test, and is scheduled to reprise his role as Shang-Chi in Avengers: Doomsday, due for release in December 2026.
The production has also confirmed that current cast members John Andrew Morrison as Mary’s Husband, Jenn Harris as Mary’s Chaperone, and Tony Macht as Mary’s Husband’s Assistant will extend their runs. All three will continue performances alongside Liu through April 26.
As previously announced, Tony and Obie Award winner John Cameron Mitchell will join the company as Mary Todd Lincoln, performing from February 3 to April 26.
Written by Cole Escola and directed by Sam Pinkleton, both winners at the 2025 Tony Awards, Oh, Mary! opened on Broadway on July 11, 2024. The show quickly made history at the Lyceum Theatre, becoming the first production in the venue’s 121 year history to gross more than one million dollars in a single week.
Since opening, Oh, Mary! has broken its own box office record twelve times and became the first show of the 2024 to 2025 Broadway season to recoup its investment. With Liu’s high profile debut and a strong ensemble continuing their acclaimed performances, the production is set to maintain its status as one of Broadway’s most talked about comedies.
