Principal cast revealed for Once Upon a One More Time, the Britney Spears Musical

The highly anticipated musical ‘Once Upon a One More Time’ has announced its principal cast, and it’s no surprise that Justin Guarini, Briga Heelan, and Aisha Jackson are set to reprise their roles from the show’s Washington, D.C. tryout. The musical is an enchanting take on beloved fairy tale characters, exploring what happens to them when the storybook is closed. In this magical world, Cinderella discovers ‘The Feminine Mystique’ and takes the kingdom by storm.

Guarini, who wowed audiences on American Idol, has been a Broadway regular in productions such as ‘In Transit’, ‘Wicked’, and ‘American Idiot’. Heelan will make her Broadway debut, bringing her comedic chops to the role of Cinderella. Meanwhile, Jackson, who recently appeared as a standby in ‘Paradise Square’, has proven her versatility as a performer and is sure to shine as Snow White.

‘Once Upon a One More Time’ is a jukebox musical comedy that reimagines classic fairy tale princesses in a modern-day setting. It features the music of pop icon Britney Spears and was created by writer Jon Hartmere and directed by Kristin Hanggi.

The show takes place in a book club attended by fairy tale princesses, including Cinderella, Snow White, and Sleeping Beauty, who are feeling unfulfilled and dissatisfied with their lives. They discover a feminist book that challenges their traditional gender roles and inspires them to take control of their own stories. With the help of a fairy godmother, they embark on a journey of self-discovery, self-empowerment, and sisterhood.

The musical features several of Britney Spears’ biggest hits, including “Toxic,” “Oops!… I Did It Again,” and “Lucky,” which are reimagined to fit the show’s storyline. The musical premiered in Chicago in 2019 and was set to open on Broadway in 2020, but its opening was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The musical will be directed and choreographed by Keone and Mari Madrid, with a score that features the iconic songs of Britney Spears. The show is set to begin previews on May 13, and the official opening night is scheduled for June 22 at the Marquis Theatre. Fans of fairy tales, pop music, and Broadway are sure to be enchanted by this exciting new musical.

Stay tuned for additional casting announcements as the production approaches its highly anticipated debut. With this star-studded lineup, ‘Once Upon a One More Time’ promises to be a must-see show for theatre lovers everywhere.
