Peter Wilson, esteemed producer, has passed away at the age of 72

Throughout his illustrious career, Mr Wilson pioneered a multitude of stage shows to worldwide acclaim via his company, PW Productions, which he established in 1983.

A statement issued earlier today stated: “PW Productions deeply regrets to announce the peaceful passing of Peter Wilson MBE at his residence on Monday, 4th September, aged 72. Mr Wilson, one of the West End’s most distinguished theatre producers, leaves behind a professional legacy of unparalleled significance. His influence on the theatre scene across the British Isles will undeniably persist. Among his most notable successes are Susan Hill’s ‘The Woman in Black’ and Stephen Daldry’s rendition of ‘An Inspector Calls’. Both continue to tour regularly, introducing a new generation to the magic of live theatre.

“The entire team at PW Productions is profoundly affected by the loss of Peter, an irreplaceable comrade, colleague and guide. Our heartfelt condolences go out to his family during this deeply sorrowful period.”

One of Mr Wilson’s crowning achievements is the internationally recognised ‘The Woman in Black’, which graced the West End for an impressive 33 years. In recognition of his contributions, particularly in keeping theatre accessible through affordable ticket prices, he was bestowed with an honorary Olivier Award this past April.

Additional productions under the banner of PW Productions encompass the critically acclaimed version of ‘An Inspector Calls’, which enjoyed several tours and runs in the West End.

Furthermore, PW Productions has co-produced a variety of performances, including Nigel Slater’s ‘Toast’, ‘This Is Living’ at Trafalgar Studios, Ian Hislop and Nick Newman’s comedy ‘Spike’, and numerous others.”
