Peter Dinklage Joins ‘Wicked’ Movies as Doctor Dillamond

Award-winning actor Peter Dinklage is set to bring his talents to the land of Oz in the upcoming ‘Wicked’ movies, where he will portray Doctor Dillamond. This casting news was unveiled at CinemaCon, where attendees also enjoyed a preview of new footage from the highly anticipated films.

Dinklage, renowned for his roles in ‘Game of Thrones’ and ‘Cyrano,’ joins stars Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande in the film adaptations of the popular musical. ‘Wicked’ is being released in two parts, with the first installment scheduled to hit theaters in November 2024.

Based on Gregory Maguire’s novel ‘Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West,’ the story delves into the lives of two university friends in Oz who eventually become Glinda the Good and the Wicked Witch of the West. The screenplay for the movies is a collaboration between Winnie Holzman, who penned the original book for the stage musical, and Stephen Schwartz, the composer of the iconic score.

The original Broadway production of ‘Wicked’ celebrated its 20th anniversary in 2023, while its West End counterpart is currently in its 18th year, having entertained over 12 million people. With Dinklage’s addition to the cast, the films promise to bring a fresh dimension to the beloved narrative.
