Paddington The Musical Extends West End Run Into 2028 After Seven Olivier Awards

Paddington The Musical is set to stay in the West End even longer, with producers confirming the award-winning production has extended its run at the Savoy Theatre through to 13 February 2028. The booking extension follows a major triumph at the 2026 Olivier Awards, where the show picked up seven prizes, including Best New Musical.

Based on Michael Bond’s beloved A Bear Called Paddington stories and the Paddington films, the stage musical has quickly established itself as one of London’s biggest family theatre successes. The production features a book by Jessica Swale, music and lyrics by Tom Fletcher and direction by Luke Sheppard, and opened to strong critical and audience response in the West End.

At the Olivier Awards, the show emerged as the standout winner of the night. Among its most celebrated honours was Best Actor in a Musical, shared by James Hameed and Arti Shah for their joint work bringing Paddington to life. The production also collected major recognition for Luke Sheppard’s direction, as well as supporting performance wins for Tom Edden and Victoria Hamilton-Barritt.

Hameed serves as Paddington’s off-stage performer and remote puppeteer, while Shah is the on-stage performer. Alternate on-stage performers for the role are Abbie Purvis, Hassan Taj and Ali Sarebani. They lead a company that includes Hamilton-Barritt as Millicent Clyde and Edden as Mr Curry, alongside Timi Akinyosade, Amy Booth-Steel, Tarinn Callender, Delilah Bennett-Cardy, Adrian Der Gregorian, Brenda Edwards, Amy Ellen Richardson, Teddy Kempner and Bonnie Langford.

The wider creative team includes Matt Brind as musical supervisor, orchestrator and arranger, Ellen Kane as choreographer, Tom Pye as scenic designer, Gabriella Slade as costume designer, Neil Austin as lighting designer and Gareth Owen as sound designer. The team behind Paddington himself also remains a major part of the show’s appeal, blending performance, puppetry and design to create the marmalade-loving bear on stage.

The extension news adds to the momentum surrounding the production, which also released its original cast recording digitally in April, with a vinyl edition set to follow in May. With booking now open well into 2028, the West End’s favourite little bear looks firmly settled in at the Savoy.
