Original Broadway Stars of Hadestown Sell Out West End Run in Hours

The original Broadway cast of the Tony and Grammy-winning musical Hadestown is set to reunite for a highly anticipated limited season in London’s West End — and tickets for the five-week run sold out in mere hours.

The groundbreaking musical, which intertwines the mythic love stories of Orpheus and Eurydice, and King Hades and Persephone, will run at the Lyric Theatre from 11 February to 9 March 2025. Directed by Tony Award-winner Rachel Chavkin and featuring the music, lyrics, and book by Grammy-winning singer-songwriter Anaïs Mitchell, the show has garnered acclaim for its innovative storytelling and hauntingly beautiful score.

A Star-Studded Reunion

The original Broadway leads—André de Shields (Hermes), Eva Noblezada (Eurydice), Reeve Carney (Orpheus), Amber Gray (Persephone), and Patrick Page (Hades)—are all set to reprise their roles. This ensemble of powerhouse performers last graced a London stage together during Hadestown’s sold-out engagement at the National Theatre in 2018, before the production transferred to Broadway.

Their return to the UK stage has ignited a frenzy among fans, with pre-sale tickets selling out in hours. As a result, the general ticket sale, scheduled for 20 December, has been cancelled. The production hinted at potential future ticket releases or returns, offering a glimmer of hope for those who missed out.

A Continuing Legacy

Hadestown’s West End revival follows the recent release of a live London cast album, which has reignited excitement for the show’s UK run. The musical has been celebrated for its genre-defying approach, blending folk, jazz, and blues to reimagine ancient mythology.

The production’s acclaimed creative team includes David Neumann (choreography), Rachel Hauck (scenic design), Michael Krass (costume design), Bradley King (lighting design), and Nevin Steinberg and Jessica Paz (sound design), among others. Additional casting details for the limited season are expected to be announced soon.

What’s Next?

The unprecedented demand for tickets highlights Hadestown’s enduring appeal. With its poetic narrative, stirring music, and star-studded cast, the West End engagement is poised to be one of the theatrical events of 2025. Fans are advised to stay tuned for updates on ticket availability and possible returns.

For now, London is ready to welcome back the underworld in style, with the original Broadway leads poised to once again captivate audiences.
