NSYNC’s Joey Fatone to Join Broadway’s &Juliet in 2025

LOS ANGELES, CA – DECEMBER 14, 2016: Musician Joey Fatone at the world premiere of “Passengers” at the Regency Village Theatre, Westwood.

NSYNC star Joey Fatone will make his return to Broadway in 2025, stepping into the hit musical & Juliet. Fatone will take over the role of Lance from original cast member Paulo Szot, beginning January 21, 2025, at the Stephen Sondheim Theatre. The pop legend will perform for a limited nine-week engagement, with his final show scheduled for March 16, 2025.

This will be Fatone’s third appearance on Broadway, following previous roles in Rent and Little Shop of Horrors. In & Juliet, a jukebox musical featuring songs by Max Martin—frequent collaborator with NSYNC—Fatone will perform hits made famous by the Backstreet Boys, despite the long-standing rivalry between the two boy bands. His major numbers will include Backstreet Boys classics, adding a playful twist to his performance.

Fatone joins the show as it continues to dazzle audiences with its reimagining of Shakespeare’s Romeo & Juliet, asking what would have happened if Juliet hadn’t taken her own life. The musical, nominated for nine Tony Awards including Best Musical, features a score packed with pop hits like ‘I Want It That Way,’ ‘Since U Been Gone,’ and ‘Roar.’

The current & Juliet cast includes Maya Boyd as Juliet, Drew Gehling as Shakespeare, and Tony nominee Jeannette Bayardelle as Angélique. Many cast members will play their final performances on October 27, making way for a new ensemble starting October 29. The new lineup will include Alison Luff as Anne Hathaway and Liam Pearce as Romeo, among others.

The production, directed by Luke Sheppard, combines choreography by Jennifer Weber and musical arrangements by Bill Sherman with scenic and costume designs by Soutra Gilmour and Paloma Young. & Juliet debuted on Broadway in November 2022 and has since recouped its investment, cementing its status as a major Broadway success.
