New Zealand it is your turn to witness the spectacle of Hamilton

New Zealand, brace yourselves for an extraordinary experience, as the groundbreaking, award-winning, and universally acclaimed Hamilton by Lin-Manuel Miranda is finally coming to your shores.

After captivating audiences in Sydney in 2021, and currently mesmerizing Melbourne, with Brisbane soon to follow next year, Hamilton is set to grace Aotearoa in 2023. Save the date: Monday, December 5, for your chance to secure tickets to the most phenomenal musical theatre event of the century.

This Broadway sensation began its Australian journey in 2021, with a Sydney debut featuring the talents of New Zealand’s own Matu Ngaropo as George Washington and Jason Arrow as Alexander Hamilton. Now, after delighting audiences across Australia, the masterpiece makes its way across the ditch, with Auckland’s Spark Arena as its next destination.

While the exact run dates are yet to be revealed, rest assured that before May concludes, Ngaropo, Arrow, and the rest of the cast will bring 18th-century American politics to life through song in Auckland.

If you haven’t been swept up in the Hamilton craze yet, or you’re unsure why it has dominated theatre conversations for the past six years, let us enlighten you. This groundbreaking hip-hop musical, which sees Miranda as the creator of its music, lyrics, and book, revolves around Founding Father Alexander Hamilton’s life, while also exploring present-day American politics and inclusivity. The show has garnered an astounding 11 Tony Awards, including Best Musical, as well as a Grammy Award and a Pulitzer Prize.

Until now, New Zealanders had to settle for traveling across the ditch or to New York, or watch the filmed Broadway production on Disney+ in 2020 (which, by the way, is every bit as phenomenal as you’ve heard). Soon, that will change as the magic of Hamilton reaches your homeland.
