‘Mean Girls,’ ‘Fawlty Towers,’ and ‘Ballet Shoes’ Extend London Runs

Three popular productions have announced extensions to their London runs, delighting fans and theatre-goers alike.

The hit musical Mean Girls at the Savoy Theatre has extended its run until April 4, 2025. Based on the iconic film starring Lindsay Lohan, the musical follows Cady Heron as she navigates the treacherous waters of high school. The stage adaptation, first seen in Washington in 2017 before transferring to Broadway in 2018, features a book by Tina Fey, music by Jeff Richmond, and lyrics by Nell Benjamin. Directed by Casey Nicholaw (The Book of Mormon, Aladdin), the show includes fan-favorite numbers such as “Meet the Plastics,” “Apex Predator,” and “Revenge Party.” The West End cast includes Charlie Burn as Cady, Georgina Castle as Regina, Elèna Gyasi as Gretchen, Grace Mouat as Karen, Elena Skye as Janis, and Tom Xander as Damian.

Fawlty Towers, currently playing at the Apollo Theatre on Shaftesbury Avenue, has also extended its run to January 4, 2025. Written by John Cleese, the stage adaptation of the classic British sitcom continues to entertain audiences with its chaotic humor. The production stars Adam Jackson-Smith as Basil, Anna-Jane Casey as Sybil, Hemi Yeroham as Manuel, Victoria Fox as Polly, and Paul Nicholas as The Major.

Lastly, the National Theatre’s production of Ballet Shoes has extended its performances on the Olivier stage from November 23, 2024, to February 22, 2025. Adapted by Kendall Fever, the production tells the story of the Fossil sisters and their dreams of fame. The cast features Melanie-Joyce Bermudez as Petrova Fossil, Grace Saif as Pauline Fossil, and Daisy Sequerra as Posy Fossil, alongside a talented ensemble. Directed by Katy Rudd, the show includes set design by Frankie Bradshaw, costume design by Samuel Wyer, choreography by Ellen Kane, music by Asaf Zohar, lighting design by Paule Constable, and sound design by Ian Dickinson for Autograph.

These extensions highlight the continued popularity of these productions and offer audiences additional opportunities to catch these celebrated shows in London. Tickets are available now for all three productions.
