Mean Girls 2023 musical movie announces further casting

The Mean Girls musical movie is generating buzz as it adds more big names to its cast and crew. Based on the Broadway show, which was in turn inspired by the iconic movie, the new flick will feature Tina Fey and Tim Meadows reprising their roles from the original film, alongside a star-studded cast.

The Mean Girls musical movie has announced further casting news, including several Broadway alums joining the already star-studded cast. Based on the popular Broadway show and iconic movie, the upcoming film is generating excitement with its talented ensemble.

Renée Rapp, who previously played Regina George on Broadway, will reprise her role on the big screen, while Broadway veterans Ashley Park (Gretchen) and Jaquel Spivey (Damian) will join the cast in undisclosed roles.

Newcomers to the Mean Girls franchise include Angourie Rice as Cady, Auli’i Cravalho as Janice, and Christopher Briney as Aaron, with Avantika as Karen and Bebe Wood as Gretchen rounding out the infamous trio of “Plastics” alongside Rapp’s Regina.

The film will also see Jenna Fischer (The Office) as Cady’s mom Mrs Heron, and Busy Philips (White Chicks) as Regina’s mom Mrs George, taking over the role originally played by Amy Poehler in the beloved movie.

Directed by the husband-and-wife team of Arturo Perez Jr and Samantha Jayne, and produced by Paramount Players alongside Fey and Lorne Michaels, the Mean Girls musical movie promises to be a hit with its impressive creative team, catchy tunes, and memorable quotes. Fans of the Broadway show are eagerly awaiting news of a West End run, but in the meantime, the movie looks set to be a must-see event for all Mean Girls fans.

Renée Rapp, who played Regina George on Broadway, will now bring her talents to the big screen as the queen bee of the Plastics. Meanwhile, rising stars Angourie Rice, Auli’i Cravalho, and Jaquel Spivey will portray Cady, Janice, and Damian respectively.

Avantika and Bebe Wood will complete the trio of Plastics as Karen and Gretchen, while Christopher Briney has been cast as the love interest Aaron.

The film will be directed by the married duo of Arturo Perez Jr and Samantha Jayne, and produced by Paramount Players alongside Fey and Lorne Michaels. Fey herself has penned the script, with music by Jeff Richmond and lyrics by Nell Benjamin, while Kyle Hanagami will choreograph.

Fans of the stage show are eagerly awaiting news of a West End run, with its catchy songs and memorable quotes from the beloved original movie. With such an all-star cast and talented creative team behind it, the Mean Girls musical movie promises to be a must-see event when it hits the big screen.
