Les Misérables Announces West End Extension with Thousands of New Tickets Released
The iconic musical Les Misérables has announced yet another extension of its West End run, releasing thousands of new tickets for eager fans. As the production approaches its 40th anniversary in London next year, plans are underway for special community and arena productions, with additional surprises expected to be revealed.
Based on Victor Hugo’s classic novel, the musical, written by Alain Boublil and Claude-Michel Schönberg, continues to captivate audiences with its timeless story and powerful music. The current cast in London includes Milan van Waardenburg as Jean Valjean, Stewart Clarke as Javert, Katie Hall as Fantine, Will Callan as Marius, Amena El-Kindy as Éponine, Lulu-Mae Pears as Cosette, Luke Kempner as Thénardier, Claire Machin as Madame Thénardier, and Djavan van de Fliert as Enjolras.
The ensemble is rounded out by a talented company of performers, including Annabelle Aquino, Hazel Baldwin, Brad Barnley, Michael Baxter, Emily Olive Boyd, Rosy Church, Ben Culleton, Matthew Dale, Matt Dempsey, Sophie-May Feek, Matt Hayden, Tom Hext, Christopher Jacobsen, Jessica Johns-Parsons, Yazmin King, Sam Kipling, Anouk van Laake, Harry Lake, Sarah Lark, Ellie Ann Lowe, Ben Oatley, Adam Pearce, Jordan Simon Pollard, Jonathan Stevens, Phoebe Williams, and Ollie Wray.
Featuring music by Schönberg, lyrics by Herbert Kretzmer, and original French text by Boublil and Jean-Marc Natel, the show also includes additional material by James Fenton and adaptation by Trevor Nunn and John Caird. Cameron Mackintosh’s production is enhanced by orchestrations from Stephen Metcalfe, Christopher Jahnke, and Stephen Brooker, with original orchestrations by John Cameron. Directed by James Powell and Laurence Connor, the production features set designs by Matt Kinley inspired by Victor Hugo’s paintings, costumes by Andreane Neofitou, Christine Rowland, and Paul Wills, lighting by Paule Constable, sound by Mick Potter, and projections by Finn Ross and Fifty Nine Productions. Musical staging is by Geoffrey Garratt, with music supervision by Stephen Brooker and Alfonso Casado Trigo.
For the 2024 holiday season, Les Misérables will offer a special schedule, including performances on Monday 23 December (2:30 pm and 7:30 pm), Tuesday 24 December (2:30 pm), Friday 27 December (2:30 pm and 7:30 pm), Saturday 28 December (2:30 pm and 7:30 pm), Sunday 29 December (2:30 pm), Monday 30 December (7:30 pm), Tuesday 31 December (1:00 pm and 6:00 pm), Thursday 2 January (7:30 pm), Friday 3 January (2:30 pm and 7:30 pm), and Saturday 4 January (2:30 pm and 7:30 pm). There will be no performances on Christmas Day, Boxing Day, or New Year’s Day.
This extension reaffirms Les Misérables’ status as a staple of London’s theatre scene, offering audiences more opportunities to experience the enduring tale of hope, resilience, and redemption.
